“ The naan doesn't go hard and chewy even after it cools! Truly soft and delicious naan served with excellently cooked sides. Good service, popular place especially on weekends, well managed. Definitely one to try in York. ”

“ Very nice restaurant. All the meat is halal. Staff were very friendly. Had a fish pakora, mixed grill and poppadoms for starters. Fish pakora, shami kebab, shish kebab were very tasty. The veggie pakora was not so great. Our mains were the giant naan (which 2 people could not finish), the paneer gosht and the butter chicken. The chicken was a bit too creamy for my liking. The paneer and the gosht were not very complimentary either. The portions however were massive. Although I did not enjoy the mains, this is nothing to do with the way that they were made. Overall, I would strongly recommend this place. Maybe next time, I will ask for recommendations from the waiters. ”

Myself and my partner really enjoyed our time at Akbar’s. The service was extremely attentive even though the restaurant was busy they still found the time. Great food, has real authenticity about it, it really tastes homemade, not lazy mass produced meals. Lovely, friendly staff and good service. Would highly recommend. ”
“ This was our first visit to Akbars York. We were keen not only to have a good dining experience but to also compare against the home of Akbars which is the one in Bradford. And you know what ? It was equally as good. The food was deeeeeliscious !! We had lamb chops and a aubergine in masala sauce for starters .. both superb followed by chicken chilli balti & lamb roshan lal , both were cooked to perfection and very tasty and the chilli heat packed a punch in the balti , our sides were garlic naan and chips. Mint chock chip ice cream for desert. The waiters were really nice and attentive but the stars here were the kitchen staff , absolutely smashed it ”
